• Non-UTF-8 NNTP posts incorrectly exported with CHRS: CP437

If you post a message to an area using an NNTP client configured with ISO-8859-1 or Windows-1252 as the character set, it gets exported to Fidonet with CHRS: CP437 (instead of LATIN-1). This causes non-ASCII characters (accented vowels, etc.) to not display correctly in FTN editors - they don't convert properly.

I think SBBSecho does this (I see it checks if the content is UTF-8, and if not, and if it's not pure ASCII, it assigns CP437), but I suspect this isn't something trivial to fix...

Does the original NNTP-posted message have the charset specified in its header? You can view the message headers with smbutil and copy and paste them here.
