• User engagement emails (opt-in)

Like social media sites/apps, we should have the option to email users about BBS activity that involves them, e.g. replies to their messages or threads they started, downloads of files they uploaded, other players playing games they're playing. A daily digest is probably enough (at least to start), but the frequency would be easily configurable.

This likely could all be written in JS. A timed event that checks the userbase for users that have opted-in for notifications and then check new activity since the last notification (whenever that was).

It could be as simple as emailing them their pending short messages (telegrams) and then delete them if successfully delivered? We don't currently send short messages to users about other players running doors (playing games) that involve them, but that seems like and easy thing to do. And they'd see those notifications upon logon, normally, or just receive the notices via email (if they hadn't already logged-on).

I like this idea. Be receiving an email it may help drive more engagement if the user sees activity happening on the board.

I've thought about this and considered using a flag as an opt-in and then send emails but something "built-in" would be great.
